2 Reporting

Self-Service Analytics

Your reports shouldn't take days to build. Your dashboards shouldn't need an IT ticket to update. We help you see what's actually happening in your business, when you need to see it.

The reporting problems slowing you down

Excel reports everywhere

Monthly_Report_v4_FINAL_updated_JK.xlsx. Someone's built something brilliant in Excel, but only they understand it. When they leave, so does your reporting.

Reports are always late

Month-end numbers arrive mid-month. By the time you see the problem, it's too late to fix it. Reactive, not proactive.

Dashboard graveyard

You invested in a BI tool. There are 200 dashboards. Nobody uses 180 of them, and nobody knows which 20 matter.

Different numbers everywhere

Sales shows revenue of £5.2M. Finance shows £4.9M. Operations shows £5.4M. Everyone's pulling from different places with different logic.

Self-service that isn't

"Self-service BI" was the promise. But every new report still needs IT. Every data change needs a developer. Self-service in name only.

Shelfware syndrome

You're paying for BI tool licences. Adoption is low. The tool isn't the problem - nobody was trained properly.

Reporting that drives decisions

We build analytics that people actually use. Not dashboards for dashboards' sake, but focused tools that answer the questions your business needs answered.

1

Understand the questions

What decisions need data? We start with business users, not data models. If a metric doesn't drive a decision, why track it?

2

Audit existing reports

Most organisations have too many reports, not too few. We identify what's actually used and what can be retired.

3

Design for adoption

The best dashboard is one people open. We design interfaces that are intuitive, fast, and answer questions in seconds.

4

Build the data layer

Single source of truth for your metrics. Governed definitions. Clear ownership. This is what makes self-service actually work.

5

Train for independence

We teach your team to build and modify reports themselves. Real training, not a 2-hour overview. Hands-on, practical skills.

6

Establish governance

Clear processes for new reports, metric definitions, and data quality. Keeps the platform clean as you scale.

Analytics is only as good as your data

Beautiful dashboards on top of messy data just visualise the mess. That's why we often start with Data Strategy - getting your data layer right before building reports on top. Clean data in, useful insights out.

The right tool for your context

We implement what makes sense for your organisation. For most, that's Power BI. For organisations wanting integrated actuals and forecast analytics, EPM platforms offer powerful alternatives.

Microsoft ecosystem leader

Deep Microsoft integration, familiar interface for Excel users, strong governance with Premium. The default choice for most UK businesses.

Best for
Microsoft 365 users, self-service analytics, broad deployment
Actuals + forecast in one

EPM platforms with strong reporting capabilities. When you want real-time analytics that connect actuals to forecasts and plans - not just backward-looking dashboards.

Best for
Finance teams, integrated planning + reporting, forward-looking analytics
Data preparation powerhouse

When the bottleneck is getting data ready for analysis. Visual workflows that transform, blend, and clean data without code. Feeds Power BI or any reporting tool.

Best for
Complex data prep, multiple sources, analyst self-service

How analytics projects work

We don't build 50 dashboards and walk away. We build what matters, teach you to extend it, and stay around to help.

Frequently asked

Should we switch from Excel to Power BI?
Not always. Excel is brilliant for certain things. The question is whether you need governed, shareable reports with automatic refresh. If your Excel reports are causing version control nightmares and taking days to build, probably yes. If they work, sometimes they just need tidying up.
We already have Power BI but nobody uses it. What went wrong?
Usually one of three things: the reports don't answer the right questions, the data is wrong or slow, or users were never properly trained. Often all three. We can diagnose and fix it - usually faster than starting over.
How do we prevent dashboard sprawl?
Governance. Clear processes for requesting new reports, regular audits of usage, and a semantic layer that ensures consistent metrics. We help you set this up so your platform stays clean as you scale.
Can we connect to our existing systems?
Almost certainly. Modern BI tools connect to hundreds of data sources - ERPs, CRMs, spreadsheets, databases, APIs. If your data exists somewhere, we can usually get it into your reports.
What's the difference between reporting and analytics?
Reporting tells you what happened. Analytics helps you understand why and what to do about it. We build both, but the real value is in analytics that drive decisions, not just reports that confirm what you already knew.
